Scope & Content 3" X 5", leather bound, black, 382 page diary. including 17 after the 365 1865 calender in front, Eclipses in 1865, the Moon's Phases for every month of the year, a table of Stamp Duties, Rates of Postage, and includes daily handwritten entries in ink. On Lincoln's death he draws a full page tombstone to mark his assassination...he tell's of Lincoln's burial, and the 31 gun salute his unit offers...apage in the back lists 4 names as assassins of Lincoln who were executed. He lists the battles of the 2d Artillery"...commencing May 4, 1864: Cold Harbor, Opequan, Fishers Hill, Cedar Creek, and in 1863: Hatcher's Run, Petersburg, Saylors Run..." He lists the musicians of the 2d CT Artillery, fifers and drummers (he is a fifer). Also giving Memoranda and Cash Account for every month of the year in back.
