Object Name Diary
Scope & Content Small 5" X 7" marble covered 1846 diary with daily hand written entries in ink, kept by Rebecca Marilla Hine of Washington. Age 13 when written. Begins in December 1846, ends January 16, 1848. Starr (C. Titus), her stepbrother. Front page reads: "Steal not this book for fear of shame/For in it is the owners name/Marilla Hine is my name/America my nation/Washington is my dwelling place/And Christ is my salvation/..."

Cover and front page are unattached, and paper is very fragile.
