Ruth Benedict Smith, who passed away April 7th 1998 in New Milford Hospital.
Mentions her birthplace: Woodbury, CT and education at Parker Academy and The Gunnery (where she also served as a teachers assistant to Mrs. Brinsmade).
She went on to teach at the District School at the foot of Gunnery Hill, and later at Wykeham Rise. She lived for several years with Mrs. Orville Platt and she was a curator at the Gunn Memorial Museum, where she wil be remembered for her research especially during the Centiennial. Notably she was dedicated to the care of Senator Platt's collection of Indain relics and mementos, as he took a keen interest in Indian affairs.
