A Christmas postcard from the Heline Family, Swedish immigrants, of Washington, CT sent to: Miss Ruth Heline 103 Black Rock Ave Bridgeport, Conn. Signed from: June Heline A note is written in English with some misspellings, it reads: "Marry Christmas [sic] and a happy New Year. The peace [sic] was very good and I have only four more lines to learn. Comon [sic] home Christmas. I sent my mink skin this afternoon. Love to all from June Heline" Postcard published by Fredrik Pererson, Malden Branch, Boston, Mass. Made in Germany. On front it depicts a family of four seated at their table as the man of the household reads from a bible with his hands clasped in prayer and the others listen attentively immitating the gesture. There is a Christmas tree, a table cloth with "Merry Christmas" printed on it in Swedish "Lycklig Jul", and a plaque in Swedish above them that translates to: "Year of life bread. John 6:48." |
