The composition book of "Arthur W. Pond of Washington, Conn., Sept. 3, 1902", as is written in ink on the top of the cover. The name Arthur William Pond is also written in ink on the inside cover. This appears to be an examination booklet that was used to asses candidates that the town of Washington, CT was considering hiring as teachers, because the last page says: "Arthur William Pond Washington, Conn. Romford School. Taught Church Hill [School] 20 weeks." The booklet has a reddish-brown outside front and back cover with brown binding. The pages on the inside are lined and about a third of this booklet is filled with answers to questions about Arithmetic, Geography (with a handdrawn map of CT), History, English, and Physiology (with temperance answer), and the rest of the pages are blank. |
