Bill of sale for a slave named George, 1791. Transcription: Know all men by Thease presents That I Lemual orton of the County of Litchfield yeomen and in the State of Conitticut Have Lawfully sold and Setover and Delivered in plane and open market my Negro man Named George For Sixty Seven Pound Shillings New York Currency to me in hand paid by John Vanderhey Den of Jerusalam Together with the Delivery of the Said Negroman George accord to the Just Forme of Law To Have and To Hold the Said bargon Primisses unto the Said John Vanderhey Den of the County of albany and the Tow aforesaid his Executors administrator & assigns for ever and this said - Semeual orton my Executors administrators and assignes Shall and will warrant and forEver Defend by these Presents In Witness whereof Together with the - Delivery of the bargoned primisses Set my hand and Seale This Day of September and in the year of our Lord - one Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety and one.
