Born 1875 in Cleveland, Ohio. Died in 1944.

Occupation

Best known as a muralist, he did decorations for the Hotel Hermitage and medallions for the Tea House in the Rockefeller Gardens at Pocantico, N.Y. He also designed windows, among others those of the Meeting House of the Ethical Culture Society in New York.

Louis was a very productive and successful painter who sold a great deal of his work. He painted in New York City as well, and contributed, with painters H. Siddons Mowbray, and Herbert Faulkner, to Washington's aura as an artist colony in the early decades of the 20th century.

The only publicly owned picture, as far as his descendants know, is the "Madonna of the Laurels" in the Brooklyn Museum.
