1991.355.1 - Bas-Relief
A marble bas-relief panel depicting a snake-like dragon eating fish. The upper, left and right edges are rough hewn. The bottom edge is smooth. The dragon has a wolf-like head and paws, wings, snake body and fish tail. The dragon may represent the devil and the fish, early Christians. This is the smaller and less intricately detailed of two similar marble panels bought by Franklin Root in Taormina, Sicily.
