Description |
Winter exterior view of the Joseph West house. Gable roofed residence fronting the Shepaug River with snow on the ground and trees. Half round windows in the gables, roofed porch in the front with attatched trellis or construction. Joseph West's photography studio in the back. This photograph is framed by a gray mat. In blue ink on back: "Duplicate, Jos. West House" Same image as X1991.144 Joseph West's Photography Studio on what is now the north side of Titus Road, near the intersection with Green Hill Road, in Washington Depot, Connecticut. An addition was later added to the west side of the building and it became the headquarters of the Telephone Company. The building is no longer standing and the brick retail building and parking lot at 6 Green Hill Road can now be found in its place. The Joseph West house was located along the Shepaug River, on the south side of Titus Road, near the intersection of Green Hill Road. The house is no longer standing and the location is an open grassy area today. It was demolished after the Flood of 1955 during the reconstruction of Washington Depot. |
