Description |
Black and white panoramic postcard of the June Willis House (now the Gunn Museum) and neighboring landscape. It is a 2-story frame colonial 5-bay gable-roofed house covered with clapboards approximately 35' x 46' with a brick foundation in part. It has a centrally located gable portico, a railed porch in the front, roofed porch on the back right and an ell to the left. Mature trees, telephone poles, and a curved gravel road front the house. The Washington Club Hall is visible on the right, the Library is visible to the left and a residence across the road. Two signs are along the road way. In pencil on back: "June E. Willis House, now Gunn Mem. Library Museum" In ink on back: Mrs. Olive Eames Stamped in black on back: "Postcard, correspondence, address, and Place Stamp Here" Former home of Simeon Hazen Mitchell, Frederick and Amelia Galpin, and later that of their unadopted daughter, June Barnes Willis, 1 Wykeham Road, Washington,CT, c. 1781. |
