Description |
Black and white copy photographic print of Rock Gate's interior entrance. Light streams in from the door and windows giving a halo effect to the entrance of Rock Gate. The interior is dark paneled wood with low, beamed ceilings. A raised landing leads to the broad stairs on the right screened with tall, spindled balusters. A glazed urn sits on the third stair. On the raised landing is a cushioned window seat furnished with pillows and a bracket lamp above. Canes or umbrellas wait contained by the doorway for that stroll thru the garden in inclement New England weather. Detailed scatter rugs complete the image. In blue ink on back: "Seccomb House, Hallway + stairs, Mrs. Jean Hope Pizzaria says Grandmother married here. 1890's" |
