Two dolls, a Korean couple in native costume, made of white silk-covered wire, standing on a black varnished stand. A and B. ( A cataloged separately.) B: Korean male doll. Molded and painted facial features, wide black eyes and brows, red closed mouth. His head is wrapped in a long, blue silk lace scarf with gold painted emblems tied in the back. His body is silk-covered wire, jointed at the neck and shoulders. He is wearing a long blue silk lace tunic, matching the head scarf. Under the tunic is a long green silk brocade robe with long sleeves, and long white silk brocade pants tied around the waist with an orange cord that has a large orange tassel. The pants are tied at the ankles with green grosgrain ribbon. His right arm is extended around the woman, the left is bent, his hand holding a closed fan in the colors red, blue, white, yellow and black, and silver. |
