Description |
Colored postcard depicting the Hauser Footbridge, dedicated on May 11, 1991, over the Shepaug River at Tunnerl Road in the Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, Connecticut. The river is the middle of the postcard and trees are on both sides. The back of the postcard says: "Footbridge over Shepaug River, Steep Rock Reservation, Washington, Connecticut, Photo by Harold J. Stoeffler, Jr." printed on the top left. The right side of the back has "postcard" and in the area for the postage stamp "Place Stamp Here 28505-E" printed. "© by Harold J. Stoeffler Jr., New Preston, CT 06777, Pub. by Clifford Scofield Color Productions, Cheshire, CT 06410 USA" divides the message and address sides. A $25,000 matching gift by Rita and Gus Hauser of Washington, CT and donations from 210 other people made the construction of this bridge possible. The bridge, modeled after an Appalachian Trail bridge near Rutland, Vermont, was designed by engineer Richard Marnicki and constructed by O&G Corporation under the supervision of Gene Sternberg. |
