Description |
One pair of women's high front lace-up black leather boots. Probably was for more formal occasions. "Burt Custom" is stamped on the bottom soles and at the very top of the inside collar of the right boot. Note with boots reads: "Shoes given to Monroe Historical Society by Mr. and Mrs. E.V. Randall of Webb Circle Monroe. They belonged to a young lady who was married in Washington, Conn, in 1800, and set out in a covered wagon to make her home, with her young husband, in the unsettled West. During a storm, on the way, a tree fell on the wagon killing the young girl. These shoes were in her trunk brought back to Washington by her husband. - Sara Warner 1968." |
