Description |
A yellow, wooden, triangular sign from the Inn on Lake Waramaug on Lake Waramaug on North Shore Road that depicts a profile of a Native American man and in painted white letters that resembles birch wood states "A FRIENDLY INN". The man in the sign is smiling with long black hair that is tied with orange hair bands. There is an orange band around the top of his head and there is an orange and white feather sticking up from the band, and another orange and white feather in the band and facing down. The back of the sign is a duplicate of the front of the sign. The top point of the triangle is gone, leaving a flat edge, and towards the top is a circular hole in the sign used for hanging it up. Each of the eight inns around Lake Waramaug displayed one of these signs during the mid-20th century during the Friendly Inn campaign during the mid-20th century, including: 1.
