Description |
Collector's Chinese baby boy doll, "Lucky Penny," in native costume with hard composition body, molded and painted facial features, & hands and feet. Painted black eyebrows and eyes, red, closed mouth. He is wearing green silk trousers that tie at the wide waist band, with pink braid at the bottom edge. He has an orange silk tunic with a collar whose edge is trimmed in blue silk. The tunic is fastened with 2 frog fasteners on the right. There is a tan crochet running stitch around the sleeve edge, around the neck, and down the front to the frog opening. He is wearing a tan undershirt with frog fasterer on the left chest, beige cotton stockings, and pink silk shoes with a flower and leaves embroidered at the toe. His red silk cap is trimmed with pink braid edging, and has 5 bronze coins, and 2 side tassels. Attached to the cap with a long string is a copper, lucky penny with a hole and chinese inscription. Stamped diagonally on the right chest fabric in black ink : "MANUFACTURED BY/ ///TED BOOK & STATIONERY/ SHANGHAI, CHINA." (///TED possibly United) Stamped diagonally on the left chest fabric in black ink: "GUARANTEED HANDMADE/ MADE IN CHINA/ (Chinese letters???) Labels affixed to the sole of each shoe read in red ink: "MADE IN CHINA." |
