Description |
A wallet, likely made in North Africa (Egypt) from the 1940s during World War II. Wallet was owned and used by Malcolm Philip Johnson. Contents of Wallet are from when he died in 1944. North African Wallet possibly produced in Egypt, or at least meant to look like it. Outside of wallet is pink with a different image on the front and back. The front image is of three camels, two of which have drivers riding them, in the desert. In the left background is a village and two palm trees. The back image shows three maidens, one with a blue dress, one with a bright pink dress, and one with a pale pink dress, as though they were a part of a wall drawing. Egyptian hieroglyphics and imagery surround the three women. Inside the wallet it is brown. Pockets on the inside of the wallet are fused together. Main pocket of billfold is lined with cloth. |
