A wood box (cherry or balsam) containing 47 glass slides. There are slots along each side to keep the slides still when being moved or from being scratched. There is a leather handle on the top and a small hook that catches under a small screw to close the lid. There are two small metal hinges on either side in the back to join top and bottom.
