1. 2012.21.1 - Tray, Serving

   A late nineteenth century English silver plated serving tray. It is somewhat oval shaped. A floral design is etched onto the tray and the edges have a grapevine design. The tray has two handles and four feet. On the bottom, a small image of a castle and "Made in England" is stamped. It belonged to Mary Johnson Ellis and Dr. Thomas Long Ellis of 77 South Street in Washington, CT.

2. G 004.2 - Pitcher, Cream

   Staffordshire pitcher, printed in brown, with a scene on either side depicting 2 figures collecting berries. Flower bouquets and flower-in-diamond panels encircle the neck (notice border around neck is not carefully made). Scallop- type border along inside rim. Handle is decorated with branches of leaves - (design is worn from use and appears to have been repainted.) No maker's mark/ insignia.

   Leaf-shaped dish with handle; dish embellished with vines. Landscape in blue of a group of cattle grazing in the foreground at the left; two figures walking at the right; large trees in the background and behind them buildings. The dish rests on three little ball feet.

   Blue and white plate. The center of the saucer depicts a river scene with a fisherman leaving with a dog, a woman and a child with basket of fish, boats and town. Border of flowers and vines.

   Small plate, blue and white. Decorated in the center with a scene resembling the Spode "Willow Pattern": a willow tree; pagoda; fence; three men on the bridge; boat and two doves. Repeating geometric patterns and symbols around the cavetto and around the flattened edge. Slight indentations along the rim. Mark in blue on back: WARRANTED / STAFFORDSHIRE / W. B. & T.

   Plate with scalloped rim, printed in red and slightly discolored. Decorated in the center with a scene depicting a soldier on a rearing horse in a landscape. Border of fruit and flowers interspersed with scenes in medallions around the flattened edge. The underside is marked in red: BELZONI / E. W. & ?

   Rich, dark blue, Staffordshire plate. Around the flattened edge of the plate is decorated with dense foliage framing a scene in the center that depicts a distant view of St. Peter's Dome.     Saucer dish, transfer printed, brown on white. Decorated in the central field with a scene depicting 2 figures, man and woman at well; mountains and town in far distance; trees in near distance, flowers under their feet. Below the flowers the words "Christ at Jacobs Well". Decorated around the border with scrolls and flowers alternating with a diamond pattern. Back impressed with: "Staffordshire Clews Warrented" in circle surrounding a crown.

11. G 5 - Plate, Dinner

    Pale blue on white; decorated in the central field with an exotic landscape scene depicting a mosque or Brighton Pavilion bordering upon a river, figures at the river's edge, three seated one standing in the foreground. Flower and leaf border decorate the flattened edge of the plate. Inscription on the back - "Non Pareil", which is a reference to the pattern of the plate.
