Description |
Mexican peasant lady dressed in Native costume with molded and painted facial features, black brow and large eyes, protruding nose and slightly parted red mouth. Over her black yarn hair, center parted, is a white cotton kerchief with cutwork. She wears dangling white, black and wood beaded earrings matching her two necklaces. She wears a two-piece dress with a long, full, striped cotton skirt. The stripes are white, brown, tan, and beige and are of varying widths. The tight belt is a rust - colored ribbon. She has a tan blouse with a pretty square neckline of embroidered trim in earth colors of brown, beige and rust. The blouse is short sleeved. On her right shoulder she carries an empty, multi-colored basket. Her hands are mitten- shaped with stiched fingers adorned with bead and black stitched rings. Her feet are bare, stitched toes. |
