Description |
A paper box of matches made by the Washington Match Company which was located in the vicinity of 18-20 Titus Road in Washington Depot, Connecticut. Printed on the top of the box within a woven border states: "The only PARLOR MATCH now made from which the HEADS will not FALL OFF on being LIGHTED, and which are not affected by DAMPNESS. Parlor's 300's.". Printed on the front side of the matchbox in a solid border states: "The Best PARLOR MATCH in this Market; made only by this Company." Printed on the right side of the matchbox, below the striking surface, in a solid border states: "WATER PROOF Parlor Match". Printed on the left side of the matchbox in a solid border states: "Will Stand Good in any CLIMATE.". Printed on the back side of the matchbox in a solid border states: "WASHINGTON Match Company, WASHINGTON, Estab. 1874. CONN.". Printed on the bottom of the matchbox in a woven border states: "By REJECTING Slide Boxes we have done away with the CHIEF SOURCE of Danger in the use of MATCHES.". There are unused matches inside the matchbox. |
