Description |
Frank Leonard Tompkins's oval aluminum mess kit from World War One WWI. A. The base/pan with lengthwise latch/handle to hold lid. The latch has "U S 1918" and the maker's mark on the end that opens. B. The lid has hand-etched American flag and "A. E. F./F. L. T./Co M./328 INF/82 DEV" The lid has a metal D-ring riveted to pull the lid free of the base. C. A fork with "U S" etched on the bottom front of the handle. Back "1918" and a maker's mark "WE/W" |
