Description |
Portugese peasant lady -play, tourist,or collector-doll. Filled cloth doll with round falttened head, emboidered facial features, brown brows, lashes, and large eyes, two dot nose, and red pursed lips. Brown, curly yarn hair frames her face beneath a red scarf with white dots tied in the back. Her face is sloped right beneath the eyes creating a cheekbone. Wearing a checked blouse with alternating blocks of flowers in colors of green, blue, red, and yellow on a white field. Her knee-length red skirt is tied gathered between her legs and pulled to the front where it is attached at the waistband. She wears a calico apron tied in the back witha red satin ribbon, matching the hem. The apron is striped alternately with wavy yellow bands and rows of red flowers with green leaves. Wearing red & white striped tights and tan leather ankle boots with ties. Her arms are extended from her body and bent, holding a sheif of dried wheat(?). Stamped on the right boot sole: "MADE IN PORTUGAL" Stamped in black on the left boot sole: "ALENTEJO" |
