  5. 2007.17.2 - Sherd, Body

    A ceramic fragment from a larger piece, possibly a pot or crock, with a white background with a 3" wide patterned band in blue and white along the bottom. An orange triangular shape with leaves inside. This could be part of a repeating pattern around the piece. The bottom is raised slightly by a lip along the edge. Curves outward from the base. Found in the woods near the Holiday House site.

  7. G 004.2 - Pitcher, Cream

    Staffordshire pitcher, printed in brown, with a scene on either side depicting 2 figures collecting berries. Flower bouquets and flower-in-diamond panels encircle the neck (notice border around neck is not carefully made). Scallop- type border along inside rim. Handle is decorated with branches of leaves - (design is worn from use and appears to have been repainted.) No maker's mark/ insignia.

    Rectangular dish, 2-handled, with compatment for hot water. Blue and white, decorated on the top with oriental motifs: Pavillions, boats, bridge, in a river landscape within blue diaper borders. Decorated on the sides with sprigs of flowers. One handle with opening at the top for filling compartment with water, other handle decorated with one flower; both handles are pierced.

    Red clay body with clear glaze and dark glaze "accents" made with manganese; Vertical brush strokes just under shoulder. Cylindrical shape, nips in sharply under neck; neck "v's" out. 2 lines incised around shoulder. Glazed on the exterior only to about 1" from bottom. Likely made in Connecticut.

    Small plate, black on white. Decorated in the center with a river scene: columns, steps into water, ships and around the flattened edge with flowering branches and a diamond diaper border. Molded rim and scalloped edge. Mark underneath: winged lion on stick with banner reading "Oriental Scenery" (similar to Rockingham mark but wing different - see catalogue card).
